The annual National Philanthropy Day (NPD) hosted by AFP-GPC celebrates those individuals and organizations who play a vital role in sustaining our region’s rich and diverse non-profit community. NPD provides an opportunity to recognize extraordinary those who exemplify the very best of philanthropy. The President’s Award is given to the individual who personifies the spirit and values of NPD not only on the day, but throughout the year.

“We were inspired by Dr. Keith Leaphart’s drive to help as many people as possible and as often as possible,” said Doris Parent, AFP-GPC President. “Dr. Leaphart embodies the pillars of what National Philanthropy Day means — making profound differences in people’s lives every day, and encouraging others to do the same. We are honored to recognize him in this way.”

Dr. Leaphart is an innovator whose expansive, parallel careers in medicine, business, and philanthropy have driven him to help redefine what it means to be a philanthropist. That’s why he founded Philanthropi in order to democratize giving for everyone and help them amplify their impact on the causes they care deeply about. In addition to his work with Philanthropi, Dr. Leaphart most recently served as the Chair of The Lenfest Foundation, where he served as the foundation’s primary liaison to The Giving Pledge and helped lead the organization’s work to support disadvantaged youth in Philadelphia in the areas of early learning, out-of-school care, and career planning. He also serves as an active board member for several other Philadelphia area organizations.

“I am humbled and honored to be recognized among my peers in the greater Philadelphia philanthropy ecosystem and our local chapter of AFP,” said Dr. Leaphart. “Everyday individuals are the driving force behind philanthropy in our nation. It is my mission to ensure they have the tools they need to support the causes they care most about as well as offer them a way to make a greater impact in their personal philanthropy journeys.”To learn more about Dr. Leaphart and his work to inspire everyday philanthropists through Philanthropi, please visit www.philanthropi.com.
